[:en]The term trilaminate means a multi-layered material composed of three layers of overlapping materials.
It’s divided for fabrics typology , for weight, defined in grams/meter2, and for the internal membrane nature.
The trilaminate that we commercialize, is used mainly in two different fields: underwater sports and hospital industry.
In the underwater field, trilaminate means a multi-layered fabric, achieving nylon or polyester fabric with a butyl rubber or a breathable and waterproof membrane.
Trilaminate with butyl covering are used for wetsuits manufacturing.
Trilaminate with waterproof and breathable membrane are suggest for sportswear, surface wetsuits (like sail, surf, kayak….) and also for underwater wetsuits manufacturing.
All these fabrics got excellent waterproof features but in opposite to neoprene, don’t offer the same thermal proprieties.
Trilaminate fabric it’s used also in hospital industry for sterilised fabric manufacturing to be used in operating room.
Surgical trilaminate prevent the liquids and microbes passage combining breathability, water resistance and liquids surface absorption, which must not "bounce" or slide along the fabric itself.
It can be single-used or reusable. The first are more economic but less ecologic; the second are more expensive but can be reused only for 100 washing/ sterilising cycles reducing considerably hospital waste.
